Why do you want to connect to a 56k modem at 230400 baud? 115200 is
sufficient, and using values higher than this may even result in *lower*
data transfer rates.

The continuity of a data stream isn't only determined by your Amiga's
ability to transfer data from the modem. There are a lot of factors which
can affect it, primarily the bandwidth of the station sending the stream (if
a server has a lot of users, it may not be able to sustain full, continuous
streams) and the general quality of connection between you and the server
(your ISP, routers in between, their ISP etc.).

Your connection rate seems very good, so I wouldn't fault the modem or your
ISP.
