Well, from what I've read so far, the new x86 Amiga emulation only
emulates 68k stuff, so anyone using that won't be able to run OS4
stuff (although I guess there's gonna be an OS4/x86 brought out in due
course?).

And although the AmigaOne from Eyetch is a new implementation, the
only non-standard piece of kit you are going to buying is the
motherboard - apart from that, it's all off the shelf kit. So it might
not be huge amounts more expensive. If the CPU is easy to upgrade to
future PPC chips, then it's going to be a decent future investment,
and it's a new, clean implementation of a computer, not having to deal
with lots of legacy stuff as with x86 kit.

Well, they're two different things - the AmigaDE is for binary
portability. You write your program once and it rusn everywhere. Thats
very attractive to developers, who don't want to waste huge amounts of
code rewriting the same stuff for a different platform. I guess they'd
need to decide if that was more important (saving money, time, effort,
wider customer base) than having a bit more speed running as a native
OS4 program.
