But in 199x there were a hell of a lot of more people in the Amiga Community
and more companies developing real applications software backed up by
Gateway (who admittedly didn't know what to do with the Amiga but they had
vast quantities of financial backing). The current Amiga Inc don't have
that type of backing. To be honest, I don't see the point of Amiga
officially endorsing this product apart from if they are going to make a
full x86 version of Amiga OS 5. Or unless of course they are trying to make
a quick buck.
Basically, I see Amithon watering down the Amiga brand because that's
basically all that Amiga Inc have. Well plus the IP of a 10 year old
operating system that needs updating and a community of mad people who
would love some applications developers to come back and support them with
the products they need. No offence to Amiga Inc but if I was them, I would
focus their efforts on the niche market first, like Apple and Linux, then go
for Microsoft because no OEM in the world is going to tell Microsoft where
to get off in the desktop market (Gateway certainly wouldn't).
Just a thought...
