Subject:opinion on 22

Hello,

I thought I'd write my opinions on the latest issue for once (I've
only just got it so sorry if I'm a bit late and all).

Anway, things I liked:
- the news focus: it's nice to read about non amiga news from time to
time

- the sound fx review: I didn't fancy reading this on first
impressions as I thought it would be a bit heavy, me not being into
music that much. However I gave it ago and thought it was a good
review, and had me interested, reading to the end, ... so much so I
felt like seeing if I could get a nice guitar sound by messing with
the demo! Unfortunetly I don't have time ATM. Where do you get the
time to learn all about these things, Don, and everyone else?
Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get the chance to use my Amiga
properly, as a hobby.

- the next gen watch was interesting too. The only thing I'd suggest
here is if you get rid of the name "Next Gen Watch" and use a white
paper background, so it's more like a mini feature, rather than a
section. For me anyway the name never entices/eases me into reading
about it, and black on grey doesn't look nice IMO.

The rest of the mag was pretty good aswell, although I wasn't too
interested in UAE or user-groups. BTW Neil, would you recommend the
CD-ROM for Flyer users? You seemed to suggest it would work well ..
but did you mean that it's just slightly better, or does it become
highly recommended if you've a flyer?

Any other things for you then? I love the mag ATM, so these aren't
important:
- I think the layout is great, although I don't accept your apology
for last month's cover, David ;)

- I would like more Active shareware content in the mag. Not
necessarily more space, but more programs reviewed per issue. Scores
would also be good too. I used to love Ian Wrigley's PD section in
Amiga Shopper. He used to cover loads of programs and gave a x/10
score, and the reviews were nice and short which I'd prefer.

- CD: I'm not that familiar with all the Amiga software, and normally
the names people give their programs mean sweet FA to me ... so I find
it difficult enough browsing the AACDs - i.e. the lovely web pages you
do don't really tell me what each program is. So, I find I just
double-click all the icons opening all the readmes, whereas a
one-liner description beside the program name on the HTML pages would
save some time. Something kindof like the Aminet CDs. Would it be
possible to do that?

This is getting a bit long. So I'll leave it there. Any thoughts on
what I said..?

Gavin
