Well even with my current PIO speed problems (more on that in a minute) I
wrote a 640meg odd audio file to a CD-R with the thing set for maximum
write speed and it took a shade less than 7 and half minutes (inc fixing
and all that, There are a few things to change and improve yet). (ohh,
yeah, exactly the same drive as reviewed)
This is with the CDRW stuck at PIO0 which has been my problem since I got
the drive (I'm sure ppl are fed up of me going on about it!) anyway, after
numerous emails back and forth between me and Elbox they have found a
problem with some drives.....

We managed to find modern CDRW writer which does not work properly
in any PIO modes except PIO 0.
The problem is that this CDRW reacts incorrectly to the
changing PIO mode's ATAPI command.
I think that exactly the some happens with your CDRW.

And they go on to say that they will contact me when they have worked things
out (must have had over 10 emails going back and forth on the same problem)
