Subject:You down with PPC? [Yeah, you know me!]

So I have this Cyberstorm PPC board from DCE...I mentioned earlier this
week that PowerUp all of a sudden decided to stop working...can't run
ANY .elf files, can't run anything that requires PowerUp...

I've flashed the Cyberstorm with the latest firmware from dcecom.de.
I'm happy to say that it didn't fail; I can't tell you how nervous I
was to run that thing! :)

I have the absolute latest 040 and 060 libs installed.

Now...I've tried ppclibemu as well as the PPC libs downloadable from
Aminet, which require that you put "ppcinstall" in your
startup-sequence or user-startup.

I use the "loadlib libs:ppc.library" option, sometimes modifying it
with "loadlib sys:libs/ppc.library," with ppclibemu, and I still get
"file is not executable" errors when I try a PowerUp program. SnoopDOS
reveals that for some reason it's not finding ppc.library.

"ppcinstall" always gives me "ppc.library not available" errors, no
matter where in my startup I put it.

What's interesting is that despite all these failures, I can easily do
a "version" command on the ppc.library file.

I've tried old and newer versions of ppc.library...nothing.

Tried "runelf" from that SAS/C package and got absolutely nothing.
SnoopDOS revealed why: it tried accessing -- you guessed it! --
ppc.library (I was under the impression that 'runelf' would eliminate
the need for it anyway!) and couldn't find it, even though it was
located right there in LIBS:.

It's not like I've never used this stuff, either. I used the
"ppcinstall" command without failure with my PPC board before it died
in January and it always ran like a charm. I did a LOT of MAME playing
in November and December! :) It worked fine the first day I got my
repaired/replacement board back. I got the PowerUp version of "lame"
running on Saturday and all of a sudden it stopped working.

Now....WarpOS works absolutely fine. No problems whatsoever, except all
of a sudden SecondSpin gets tangled up in an endless loop when I try to
encode existing AIFF files. Since it's a beta version, though, I'm not
too concerned. :)

Ideas? Clues? Should I just give up and go back to 060?? :)
