I'd rather have a set of Altec Lansings or Cambridge Soundworks for a
computer than anything else - I just like to segregate my things, home
cinema and computer in my mind should stay seperate, and I'm not to fussed
about showing off 'how I setup my computer to do x, y and z with my home
cinema and vice versa'.

Get the top of the range Lansings, and you'll have some of the best base you
could hope for from a very tiny size of speakers. TBH though I'm no sound
engineer, I'm sure there's better. I just haven't experienced it and am
happy with the price vs performance ratio.

Well, you can't even do usually, the ratings are really very manufacturer
independent, it's not a good idea to compare on voltages, just on sound.
PMPO isn't necessarily the devils workings, so you just need to go into the
shop and say you want to hear both play a CD you have brought in. If they
don't want to do it, you don't want to buy from there.
