Hi , on the subject of [amigactive] Re: Yet more tower probs, you said:

Hang on a minute. Your answer to the question "Can I stick an 060 and Crystal
as a direct replacement for an 040 on a PPC board" was an uncatagorical
"Yes!".

Then, once the point has been made that the 060 runs at a different voltage,
your response is "BPPC don't have jumpers, i *think *it handles 040/060
voltage itself". Clearly implying that you have NO idea what your are talking
about. This other person could have taken your advice and put the 060 into
the PPC board and fried it! Don't you think this is a little irresponsible??
Don't you think that just saying "Yes" about a technical subject of which you
are not fully clued up is a little daft?

Just because the BPPC doesn't have little pins with a moveable peg DOES NOT
mean it doesn't have jumpers. It could have little things called factory set
jumpers, which are little solder pads which are either left disconnected, or
shorted with a bit of solder or a resistor, so the board would be configured
at the factory for the 040 or the 060!
