YAM certainly needs a whole screen to itself. It fills a 1024x768 screen
here.

That would clutter up screens badly. Half the point of having a separate
screen for each program is to cut out clutter. Otherwise you may as well
have six or eight copies of Workbench.
A screens menu avoids clutter and still allows you to go from any screen
to any other.
One screen might be carrying a couple of programs, of course. Think
screens, not programs.
Personally, I find the taskbar to be a major nuisance on Windows - it is
always popping up unwanted whenever you go near the bottom of the
screen. One big problem with Windows as an interface is that the actual
_working_ area is so much reduced, by window borders on everything, task
bar, tool bars, etc. Unfortunately, some recent Amiga programs have
picked up this bad habit.
