Unfortunately, P96 will only display one screen at a time.
But in any case, there isn't a mechanism in AmigaOS that I know of for
locking a screen to be always in front. In fact, it could prevent some
programs from working if they have controls at the bottom of the screen.
Again, it is something applied to the screen that has nothing to do with
the program you are using - like a banner on a web page, and just as
annoying.
I think you will find that Gnome etc don't really have separate screens,
but one big screen like an Amiga autoscrolling screen, and jump to
different parts of it. This is like using a double-width screen in Bars
& Pipes or Movieshop. All the "workspaces" have the same resolution and
colour depth. It would be possible to set up an Amiga with several sets
of "workspaces", each set on one Amiga screen.
