Subject: | Microdot II & large emails |
Hello,
A few days ago I was sent an enormous email by Jobserve (who provide a
jobs by email service). The message was 1.7Mb in size and took 6
minutes to download on my 56K modem. I would have avoided downloading
it but it looked important. After two attempts I got the message and
decided that as Microdot has had trouble reading large emails before
(over 500K) I would quit the program and reboot before trying to read
it. Unfortunately, Microdot crashed while shutting down and went into
an infinite save loop. It went on saving for a while until it ran out
of space on the partition it was on whereupon I rebooted.
When I tried to run the program again it froze each time. I eventually
discovered that its prefs file had increased in size from approx. 37K
to (wait for it!) - 113.3Mb!
Upon restoring this file from an old backup (and losing a lot of
emails in the process) I got Microdot II to work again.
The reason I have posted this is that I'm wondering if I was just
unlucky or if Microdot can't handle emails this size?
