The Perl module cgi.pm was designed to make this easy.
See the O'Reilly book "CGI Programming with Perl" for details.
I imagine you can do it with PHP too, but I haven't used PHP. Or if on
the Amiga, you could certainly parse the string with ARexx, which has
very good parsing commands.
