I had same sort of problems with getting up and running a gfx card
(ok not the same like for like) and came across things that I'd never
seen before (like cannot play sim city 2000 now)
It was always a dream to get a gfx card card up and running yes its nice
to have all those colours. But somethings are a bit touchy when using
with it.
Thats why when/if I do get an AmigaOne I want it all in one Tower ready
to buy of the shelf I don't want to fiddle about trying to fix it all and
get it up and running right.
I have a Eyetech Mk4 tower so it will mean another tower anyway with a
Micronik A-1200 6860 Rev 5.43 Zorro board which I had to cut all the insides
of my tower out to fit it all. With a Blizzard 1260/50 plus scsi interface
with 2x64mb simms, CV643D card. 30Gb IDE HD, scsi 32xspeed CD-ROM,
scsi caddy with varies size scsi HD's which slot in OK also a internal
scsi 5.5" 560mb HD not to mention DF0: I use a Surf Squirrel for the fast
serial port only as I dont need the surf scsi port.
I had a right hell of a time getting all this up and running and I'm not
going through all that hell again trying to do it all again with an
AmigaOne.
So if Eyetech want my money they had better make an all in one machine
with gfx card etc. All I want to be able to do is say take out a HD or
ram to upgrade when needed. If not i'll not bother upgrading my Amiga
I've just got shapeshifter (with my mate getting it up and running for me)
going so can use Netscape OK.
If I do want to upgrade my machine it would now have to be a PC as price
for price there better money unless Eyetech can tempt me with an all in
one AmigaOne tower at a good price
