That Demo of ArtEffectthat you have will be pretty old and out of date now!
The latest version of ArtEffect is Version4 and imo its the best of the
ones I have tried out.

Photgenics is very nice but seems to suffer from one big problem, and thats
stability (here, at anyrate):-/

Perfect Paint is getting there, and is great cos it is free, but that still
has a few bugs in it to be delt with imo (well not bugs, just the way it
works)

There is also a program called DiamondBOX and thats available on Aminet - I
dont know anything about is abilities though other than it manipulates
images.

I have not tried ImageFX but thats probably the next one I'll buy.

TVPaint is great but does seem rather limiting compared to the other
programs. It though fast and stable though! :-)

PPaint = fantasic but 256 colours :-/

and finally, one everyones seems to have forgot about...

*fxPaint*. Very much like ArtEffext but with a nicer GUI ;-) also includes a
'photo album' thing and LOTS of other tools. I'm still playing with this
program but I am begining to wonder if I should use it instead of ArtEffect
now. (Reviewed AA ish10 - Gold Award)
(ohh, and its cheapish also!)

A few of these programs are available from Kicksoft..
