Fitting the optional infra red (IR) head |
The IR head is an extra cost option which is available in external and internal versions. The internal version is designed for mounting behind an aperture or dark red perspex window in the front of the tower etc case. It is your responsibility to provide a suitable mounting position for the IR head. |
Two sets of mounting holes are provided, one set being compatible with a 5.25 bay mounting PC amplifier control panel by Fujitsu, which itself has an unused infrared window (see picture). The internal IR head attaches directly to the EZKey XS by a polarised 3 way cable underneath the EZKey-XS PCB. |
The external model is electrically identical to the internal model but is mounted in a small cream/beige case with an IR window. It can be fixed to the outside of the tower case (or elsewhere) using a pair of Velcro strips (not supplied). |
The external IR head does not attach directly to the EZKey-XS, but terminated in a 3.5mm stereo minijack. An additional lead (supplied) attaches to the IR header on the EZKey-XS and itself terminates in a chassis mounting (6mm diameter hole) female minijack socket. |
Always take care not to plug any other 3.5mm minijack accessories into this socket and do not plug the IR head into any other 3.5mm jack socket. If these precautions are not observed serious damage could be caused to your EZKey-XS, your Amiga or other peripherals. Clearly any damage caused in this way is your responsibility and falls outside the scope of any product warranty. |
