Advertising Policy

In the course of arranging our SEAL-O-RAMA show we found that several companies showed an interest in advertising in Clubbed. We feel that adverts form a useful part of any magazine and realised that the revenue could fund additional pages in the magazine so we agreed. However we realise that some people might see the addition of advertising might be seen as a commercialisation of the magazine or even that the mag is in financial trouble and needs an injection of money. Neither of these is the case so below we have tried to explain how Clubbed advertising works.

Clubbed DOES NOT Rely on Advertising Revenue

Clubbed is a not-for-profit publication, the subscription price was designed from the start so the magazine could run with no advertising. This is what we have done up until issue 6 except for the advert we run for Forematt Home Computing who have supported us in many ways right from the start. We could quite happily continue like this indefinitely however, of course, we want to enhance the magazine and give our readers more for their money!

Clubbed WILL NOT be Biased by Advertisers

Because the magazine doesn't rely on advertising to survive the worst that could happen if an advertiser withdraws from the magazine is the loss of a couple of editorial pages paid for by their advertising.

The other factor to remember is that Clubbed is written by ordinary Amiga users, no one is paid for their work. Therefore no one has to worry about the loss of a job or source of income.

Advertising WILL NOT "Steal" Editorial Space

Clubbed magazine's production and postage is paid for by your subscription, this ensures a base number of pages (currently 40) which are all editorial (apart from a ½ page Forematt advert mentioned above). We won't ever run adverts that use base editorial space. We will ensure advertising always pays for EXTRA editorial.

Please note that it is possible that increased printing and/or postage costs may reduce the base size of magazine we can produce for your subscription.

Summary

We feel the advertising will bring extra editorial and a useful resource to Clubbed with no real negative effects and hope you will agree.

If you have any comments we would be very interested to hear them at clubbed@seal-amiga.co.uk.
