Which is why I followed it up with.... ;)

This is what I mean about public info. Perhaps it's because I don't
follow Matay that closely, not having one of their cards, but the
first I heard about them working with Amiga was the Amiga press
release. I guess that doesn't actually mean they're making their own
PPC PCI card, and I haven't seen anything on the news pages to that
affect either. Please correct me if I'm wrong :)

Perhaps they are :(
I think a lot of the news got missed because of the emulator. A fairly
large chunk of the keynote was going on about it (fairly
understandable, Bill was excited by it and I guess even though I'm
not too interested in it, I'd probably think it was damned cool if I
saw it :), although other things were mixed in so people may have
missed it. And the press release has only been available for what,
about a whole day now? Interest might pick up, but the A1 news could
seem like a business as usual kind of announcement. And by that I
mean, things are progressing, doing well, but this would be what
people expect from decent quality companies like those who are working
on the A1. Had the news been it's slipped by a month, I'm sure more
people would have taken notice (and probably bitched and moaned no
end).
