Subject: | visual Prefs, Birdie, CGX4 and Image FX. |
Hello Amiga Experts,
I currently run a system that has a BVision graphics card and CGX4. I have
noticed that when running Visual Prefs and Birdie that the sytem gadgets
were not shown. This was despite setting all the appropriate parameters in
the VP and Birdie docs so that the gadgets should be rendered. The same
configuration also worked perfectly on an Ateo graphics card using P96.
I suspected that one of GCX4's tooltypes or Env variables must be the
problem. I did eventually find that disabling the FORCECHUNKY option solved
the problem and the system gadgets are now properly rendered.
However, this has led to another problem with ImageFX. ImageFX loads a
background pattern and a ghosting pattern in its preview window. When
FORCECHUNKY=0 these patterns show as total garbage on the IFX screen. I can
of course just rename these files so that IFX does not show any backgrounds
but wonder why it should need the FORCECHUNKY option to render the
backgrounds. Workbench and MUI screens can do this without having this
variable set.
As another aside, does anyone find that Image FX is rather crash prone. It
is currently the most unstable programme I have and often gurus for no
apparent reason. Does anyone know any method of increasing the stability of
IFX ?
Regards,
Bill.
