Hello Sam,

On 05-Aug-01, you wrote:

I've done no speed comparisons, so I'm optimistic about comparing to
USB :) Because I can get to the pictures much quicker on the card
reader, it makes the whole operation speedier and easier, certainly
easier than firing up the notebook, finding and connecting up the
camera lead and mains adaptor, and running the software. Of course, I
could just use the PCMCIA port on the laptop, but then I still have to
transfer the pix via network to the Amiga.

The notebook is very quick to download via a USB cable to the camera,
and no doubt someone can give you tech specs of USB versus SCSI2

I've just done a test, and filled the 16MB card on my Canon Powershot
G1, and downloaded the 13 pics in 1 min 4 secs to hard drive. This
amounted to 14415349 bytes, which isn't amazingly fast, but not bad!

With the card reader, there isn't any need for software other than
MountDOS from Aminet. This extremely easy to use piece of software
allows you to set an icons' tooltypes to match your scsi.device and
unit no, then you just click on the icon to mount the card as a device
on workbench.

If such software could be used via a USB driver, we'd have it made!! :)
