I suppose I should have seen how it compared transferring to RAM, an
IDE drive and a SCSI3 drive, though I doubt there would have been a
lot of difference.

Which is slightly slower than my test.

It would certainly be worth a try. USB would be a welcome addition to
an Amiga.
