I fitted a second socket myself so I can add a couple of comments.
Use the angled socket type, which holds the SIMM at about 45 degrees
to the board. I think a 'flat' type could be problematic.
The second socket fits on the opposite side to the original and almost
coincident with it. This means that the location legs of the new
socket may have to be snipped off before fitting. I found that the
first socket fouled the legs of the second one, preventing it sitting
fully downw won the board.
Other than these points, it was a doddle - assuming you are confident
with the old soldering gizmo. And use a magnifier lamp, it helps!
