Yes, but that's not relevant. You don't get a wide choice of speeds with hard
drives, even a 5400rpm drive is far faster than an Amiga can handle. how
many people would buy a 10000rpm IDE drive for Amiga use.

CD writers are getting faster and cheaper. This may be false economy. By
the time you have a system able to handle a 16X drive, 24X drives may be
available for less.

It's not the job of a review to tell you whether something is worth
buying, it's to give you sufficient information to make that decision
yourself. The review stated how the drive performed under the test
conditions, and what the test conditions were. I said that it would be
better with a Power Flyer, but was unable to quantify this.

That's true, and I'd expect it from other manufacturers. But Plextor
have traditionally aimed at the power user market. Their SCSI CDROM is
excellent and costs more than the cheaper CDRW drives. All their other
CD writers have SCSI options, so this could be seen as the start of a
trend, which would be worrying. It's not that the IDE drive was simply
released first. I wrote that review four months ago, and they still
haven't announced a SCSI drive this fast. Their latest IDE drive is 24X
(and it's a real 24X using CLV) but their fastest SCSI drive is still
last year's 12X model. What are Mac users supposed to do?

I didn't, nor did I say it was bad.

Cheers
