think about the process going on and then its not strange at all.
when burning, you are simply feeding one large file to a buffer.
when making an image you are writing a file to an Amiga device - and if
you're using FFS then seektimes get very large on large files...you might
also want to change the partition parameters to help this issue.
I suggest giving the partition in question a 'buffers' value of at least
400 (addbuffers mypartition: 400) and perhaps even reformat that
partition after using HDToolBox to change the blocksize to 1024 or 2048
