Of course you would. It's just that you can't make future-proof
purchases when the future changes so quickly. A 16X drive is a good
investment, if you can use it at 16X now. But buying it because you'll
be able to use it at 16X next year is daft, the 24X drives are already
out, who knows how fast they'll be next year, and at the same price as
the current fastest drive.

It's odd that Yamaha, perceived as a more consumer oriented company, are
still making SCSI drives. Maybe Plextor have a strong need to make
short term cost savings.
