hi,

yep, thats the way to slow your main harddrive down.
stick the HD's on the same channel and the CDs on t'other
(why? because of access rates and modes. eg, modern HDs will do
PIO4 with UDMA5, CD's will stick at around PIO4 UDMA2

try setting the channel with the CDRW to a lower setting...eg PIO2
