I agree with you here. You can also boot from the slave drive from a warm
reset too. It is not supposed to work but only once the FastATA software

Yup. A slow CDRom will slow the HD down hence you should never use devices
like Zip drives with your main booting hard-drive.

I don't think this will work tbh. I know that on some systems that new
burnproof 16* drives only work at PIO 0. However, that is only certain
drive mechanisms. The IOMega 8*4*32 here goes to PIO 5 with no problems
and still burns CDs in 7 minutes (+ 3 waiting).
What's PIO 2 ?? never seen that one ;-)
