I get exactly the same with my IDE Zip drive too. It also causes the OS3.9
IOTools to crash. I had to get a squirrel and hook up my external SCSI Zip
drive to read all my old Zip disks as ones formatted on a SCSI Zip drive
are unreadable by the IDE drive and vice versa.
I did write the the Guru about it a while ago but it seems the guys at AA do
not know the answer either :-(
The IDE drive seems to lose part of the disk which is why it won't accept
installation by HDToolbox. The SCSI one will install an RDB quite easily.
HDtoolbox states that a Zip drive on the SCSI bus is 96.0Mb in size, yet
the same Zip disk in the IDE drive is only reported as being 95.9Mb. I
think it is this missing 0.1Mb that causes the incompatibility problems and
the IOTools crash and the fact that HDToolbox cannot install an RDB on
disks in the IDE drive.
Regards,
Bill.
