hi,

aye. 200 ukp for a dual-CPU motherboard and then spend another 200 ukp
for 2 833MHz CPUs. the final machine will be cheaper, and more powerful
than a single 1.5MHz machine.
there again, if you only play PC games and use Windows ME you only get to
use one of those CPUs. pity, eh? ;-)
..and once again, who NEEDS 1.4GHz of CPU power? a 300MHz machine does
MP3, a 200 ukp gfx card does practically all you ask of it, a 500MHz
machine can do movie playing. With a decent motherboard you can even watch
DVDs on a 300MHz machine with ATI gfx (oh yes, thats the *great* thing
about PCs...the motherboard is your downfall, I've seen motherboards that
have < 200MB/s memory access speeds, and others that have > 600MB/s memory
access speeds. Guess which one means you dont have to fork out so much on
a CPU (or get your moneys worth out of a CPU? ack. nasty business.
Anyway, back onto Amiga related stuff....I'm still waiting for the new CPU
cards. It was a BIG shame when all of those promised G3/G4 accelerator
cards failed to materialise :-(
