There are no top-spec iMacs. It is a budget consumer model, equivalent
to the A1200. All the iMacs I've seen had poor quality monitors.

The G4s are nice except for having only two drive bays on the front
(where a PC could have six). Final Cut Pro is said to be a very good
video editor. Newtek recommend a G4 for Lightwave.
