Not necessarily. It might detect the MMU, but the MMU could be broken
in some way, which would be why it was shipped as an EC version.
Alternatively the manual could be wrong. The markings on the chip
should confirm what type it is, but since you've already said you
can't get to them...

BlizKick, Enforcer, MMULib are the ones I can think off OTTOMH. The
easiest way to check I guess would be to use Enforcer - run it (and
use the option to save output to a file) and then run the included
LawBreaker program. If you get the Enforcer hits, your MMU should be
working.
