Subject: | Odd problems with an old A1200 |
Hi,
I've attempting to get my old A1200 ready for auctioning on ebay, having got
another A1200 towered and running OS3.9. The setup is as follows:
A1200 circa 1993 (kickstart 3.0)
80MB IDE internal hard disk
Blizzard 28mhz '020 expansion board with 4MB fast RAM
Alpha Data PCMCIA IDE adapter
Goldstar IDE CD ROM drive
I'm seeing the following problems:
i) I can only boot to the harddisk by bringing up the A1200 config screen
upon booting (holding down both mouse buttons) and then selecting "boot".
ii) I'm using the tandem-pcmcia.device and CacheCDFS to run the cdrom unit.
The drivers install ok and the CD unit is recognised and browesable after
the install. However a fresh reboot with the CD unit switched on crashes the
machine. With the CD switched off the machine boots ok. (I did try using IDE
FIX 97 - but this seemed to have no benefit and the shareware popup was a
pain)
iii) After a soft reboot the machine fails to recognise the expansion boards
and reverts to only having 2MB of chip ram.
None of these problems are show stoppers but I can imagine them causing
hassle once I've sold the A1200. Has anybody got any ideas for how to
troubleshoot any of the problems described?
Thanks
John
PS I'd also like to get them fixed because I hate to let a problem beat me
;)

hi,

..still, I'd suggest the DAO version - just because even if you dont
always use the functionality, its there for if you DO need to use it
