This file contains information about enabling 32 bit file access on a Stacker drive. ===================================================================================== This update only applies to Stacker version 4.0 and Windows for Workgroups 3.11. Stacker versions prior to 4.0 do not support 32 bit file access. What is required: To use the update you must be running Stacker version 4.0. You must also be running Windows for Workgroups 3.11 or later. The shipping version of Stacker 4.0 does not allow 32 bit file access on a Stacker drive. The file SUPDATE.EXE contains the necessary components which will permit 32BFA on a Stacker drive. What needs to be done: You will need to run the program SUPDATE.EXE. It is required that Stacker be loaded on your system and that you run the program from the Stacker directry. If, for example, the name of your Stacker directory is STACKER and it is located on drive C do the following: 1)Go to the directory where you ran S32BFA.EXE. 2)Type COPY SUPDATE.EXE C:\STACKER . 3)Change to the Stacker directory by typing CD\STACKER . 4)Run the program by typing SUPDATE . 5)Restart your computer. You will then need to setup 32 Bit File Access on your system. To enable 32 bit file access on your stacker drive do the following: 1)Start Windows. 2)Open up the Control Panel. 3)Double click on the 386 enhanced icon. 4)Click on the Virtual Memory button. 5)Click on the Change button. 6)Click on the 32 bit file access box and make sure there is an X in it. 7)Click OK. 8)Click on the Restart Windows button. Notes: 1)In order to sucessfully run the update the following files must be in the Stacker directory from which you run SUPDATE: STACKER.COM SETUP2.EXE STACLOAD.BIN 2)If you ever run the REDBL command from your original Stacker diskettes you will need to run the SUPDATE program again to enable 32 bit file access on Stacker drives.
