Title: Alone in the Dark ***** (£35)
3D adventure which was groundbreaking when it was first released for the PC some years ago, but now looks a bit dated. The animation varies wildly in quality - some of it is very good, and some of it is very poor, with the main character not being particularly detailed. The adventure is perhaps a bit easy, although the strange, dramatic perspectives can conspire to make some actions difficult to judge. A massive variety of screens and techniques encourage you to complete the game, and there is more to this game than at first appears - there are several puzzles which you don't have to solve since they merely save you from fighting some enemies rather than blocking your progress.

Title: Arcturus **** (£25)
Guide your craft around a landscape battling against momentum, holes in the floor and various enemies. This game could have been superb, but the viewing angle unforunately often makes it hard to play - you view the game from a point too close to the floor and so it's often difficult to judge exactly where you are, which is essential in a game where one tiny mistake can send you plummeting to your death. Colourful gouraud shading gives an attractive game display, and there is some very nice, smooth animation.
