EasyCash QMail for Windows 95, Copyright 1996 EasyCash Software --------------------------------------------------------------- Content of this manual: 1. Purpose 2. Installation 3. Using QMail with your application 4. Report 5. SAMPLEMAIL.TXT 6. Warranty 7. Registration 8. Author 1. PURPOSE QMail is a small programm to send Internet eMails from within other applications. My own purpose was to send eMails with a minimum of programming afford. An easy-to-use utility for all of my applications. In fact, with QMail you can send an e-mail with only one single codeline. It does not matter if your application ist written in 16 oder 32 bit. It only has to run under Windows95. QMail includes its own DialUp. It dials, sends the considered message and closes the connection instantly. 2. INSTALLATION Create a new directory for QMail or copy the files QMAIL.* into it. QMail uses the RASAPI32.DLL. If you do not have this file in your \windows\system then extract the RASAPI32.ZIP. Note: do not leave the RASAPI32.DLL in the program directory! QMail is self-explaining. If you start QMail without any parameter, the main screen appears. You only have to edit the configuration once. It is stored in the file QMAIL.INI. Sender E-Mail: this is your own return-address Connect to: Select a phonebook entry from the combobox SMTP-Server: The URL of your provider (e.g. mail.company.com or 197.0.0.1) Default port: normally 25 Username: Your login name Password: Your login password To be certain that you have configured QMail correct compare the settings with your MS-Exchange or MS-Internet Mail or any other program you are using to send and receive mails. Save the settings by clicking the OK Button. Now you are ready to use QMail. 3. USING QMail WITH YOUR APPLICATION QMail watches about commandline parameters. Start QMail from within your application like you would start any other external program. The first commandline parameter is required. It has to be the name of the file you want to send. The second parameter is optional. It can be the eMail address of the recipient. *************************** EXAMPLE 1: *********************************** c:\QMail\QMail.exe SampleMail.WRI halser@easycash.co.at This would send a mail to the author. The mail neither has a body nor a subject. Instead of that the file TESTMAIL.WRI is attached to the message. *************************** EXAMPLE 2: *********************************** c:\QMail\QMail.exe SampleMail.TXT This would as well send a mail. But because the recipient is omitted, QMail will scan the content of the file. It assumes that the recipient is defined IN the file. This is more useful than the first example shows. Note: QMail will NOT delete your message after sending it! 4. REPORT QMail creates a report for each mail sended. The report ist a plain textfile located in the program's directory. The name of the report file is QMAIL.LOG. You can use this logfile for your application to prove the sending process afterwards. The logfile is always overwritten. 5. SAMPLEMAIL.TXT This is the possible content of such a textfile discussed above. TO= defines the recipient (MUST be defined) CC= defines a carbon copy, similar to recipient (must not be defined) CC= 2. carbon copy and so on SUBJECT= subject of your message (must not be defined) CHARSET=ISO8859 Uses the ISO8859 character set. This is useful for europe. If not defined, US ASCII is used. ATTACH= attachment with full path (must not be defined) ATTACH= 2. attachment and so on The rest of the text will automatically become the body of your message. Note: All properties are written in capital letters! Sample Text: TO=halser@easycash.co.at SUBJECT=QMail works! ATTACH=c:\private\girlfriend.jpg Dear Alex! I have downloaded QMail from the internet. It's the best program I've ever seen! I hope you will accept my cheque over US$ 10.000. Please visit my girlfriend (picture enclosed) by night, too - she's very lonely. Since I've got QMail I spend every night with programming... Best regards 6. WARRANTY You have got the full product, not a restricted shareware or demo. USE IT AS IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
