-= RISE OF THE TRIAD v1.1 =- -= Cheat Code Listing (revised version) =- Discovered and recorded by B.J. Blazkowicz (aka Brian Rowan) ---------- What's New ---------- As you probably already know, Rise of the Triad v1.1 is out! Yay! That means Apogee can now start shipping the registered versions, doesn't it. I think the best new feature of the game is "Ludicrous Gibs" mode. If you happen to hit one of the characters dead-on with a missile from a missile weapon, twice the normal amount of flying body parts and blood is seen scattering all over the yard. And in version 1.1, when the guts hit the floor, it makes a noise, too. Other improvements include: * Death sequences are longer (frame rate slower) so deaths can be enjoyed. * There are more gibs and they stay around longer. The blood dripping down the walls lasts an enjoyably long time! * Actors now move slower and are easier to see. * The "guy that pleads for his life" character has been changed. He still pleads for his life, too, but now some of these dudes carry bazookas! They only have 3 missiles in them, however, and will drop them when you kill them. And, if you don't finish them off when they plead for their life, sometimes they get back up and start shootin'! * Ludicrous Gibs mode, already mentioned. * Game how has an official RSAC violence rating of 4. Yes! * A new hazard has been added: Lava Pits. * Overall, killing those Apogee employees is much more satisfying. MISCELLANEOUS STUFF THAT NO ONE ELSE PROBABLY NOTICED: * Level 4 ("Dark Tunnels") was brightened up, thank God. * Door closing sound effect changed (for the worse, in my opinion). * Elevator door graphic looks different. More like rust now than slime. * The "play dead" guy that gets up when you get near him has a different sound effect now. When he jumps to his feet he yells "Drop it!" instead of "Surprise!" And he is, on the contrary, much more surprising. * Some slight changes to a couple of the levels (addition of objects, etc.) Whew! There's your list of features. There are more, but you'll just have to find out what they are for yourself! Anyway, the first thing I did after downloading the upgrade patch last night was to check the executable for any new cheats --and sure enough, there were a few new ones in there. Some of them, though, I cannot get to work. I have tried typing both the backslash code and the regular code millions of times but to no avail. I'm printing them here in this text file so if anyone can figure out their function please E-mail me. Okay, on with the codes. =============================================================================== Code Alternate Description ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DIPSTICK \ECC Type this to enable all the rest of the cheats. Unless you type it, none of them will work. CHOJIN \WWW "Woundless with Weapons" mode. In other words, invincibility, and unlimited ammo for you. Listed in the manual. GOTO \GTL Warp to any level. Brings up a menu of all the level names and asks you to select one. Plays some polka music ("Fish Polka") in the background. The shareware version seems to have two levels from an episode 2 (not the registered E2): "Too Tall", a 16-story level, and "Play Room". SIXTOYS \GAI "Items Aplenty!" Similar to TAB+I in Wolfenstein and its sister games. Gives you bulletproof armor, all four keys, full health, and 100,000 points. TOOSAD \GOD Gives you God Mode. FLYBOY \MER Gives you Mercury Mode. BADTRIP \SHR Gives you Shrooms Mode. BOING \ELA Gives you Elasto Mode. GOOBERS \GOO Restart Episode. Similar to the REEN command, which restarts just your current level. WHACK \OOF "Ouch!!!!" Takes away 10% (one point) of health. Only works if CHOJIN (invincibility) is off. SPEED \RFA Enables/Disables "Autorun". You don't have to press to run while in this mode. Convenient. PANIC \PAN Prints the message "Back to normal. Ah." Seems to make you lose all your weapons except the single pistol! DIMON \DON Turns on light diminishing (same as menu choice). DIMOFF \DOF Turns off light diminishing (same as menu choice). LONDON \FON Turns on fog effects (cute code there). NODNOL \FOF Turns off fog effects (this is creative). SHINEON \SON Turns on light sourcing. SHINEOFF \SOF Turns off light sourcing. GOTA386 \CON Turns floors and ceilings off (cruel joke to you 386ers). GOTA486 \COF Turns floors and ceilings on. GOGATES \L8R Presumably as in "Bill Gates", this dumps you to DOS immediately. GOARCH \ECL Skip current level and go to end level/bonus screen, the message on which says something to the effect of "Level wussed out on!" SHOOTME \BAR Gives you bulletproof armor. BURNME \FAR Gives you asbestos armor. LUNGDUNG \GAR Gives you a gas mask (another creative code word). HUNTPACK \OFP Prints the message "Outfit Player!". Gives you a heat seeker with 5 missiles, all bullet weapons, all four keys, and 100% health. 86ME \DIE "Say Goodnight." Suicide Command -- you just die. REEN \REL Re-enter current level. Similar to the GOOBERS command. JOHNWOO \GW2 Gives you dual pistols. PLUGEM \GW3 Gives you an MP-40 machine gun. VANILLA \GW4 Gives you a bazooka with infinite rounds. FIREBOMB \GW5 What do you think? It gives you a firebomb with infinite rounds. This is my favorite weapon, especially when you hit a low guard dead-on with one'a those missiles and "Ludicrous Gibs!" mode dashes that sucker all over the room! HOTTIMES \GW6 Gives you a heat seeker with infinite rounds. BOOZE \GW7 Gives you a drunk missile launcher with infinite rounds. BONES \GW8 Gives you a FlameWall with infinite rounds. SEEYA \GW9 Unfortunately, this code has been changed. It just gives you regular, time-limit God Mode now, whereas before, there was no time limit. Oh, well. RIDE \CAM The missile cam. Listed in the manual. WHERE \HUD Toggles HUD in the upper right corner of the screen. Displays the player's X,Y coordinates as well as his/her angle. RECORD (none) Record a demo on any level in the game. When you are finished, use the STOP command (see below). STOP (none) Stop recording a demo in progress and saves to disk as DEMOx.ROT., where 'x' is the number you enter when the game prompts you for the demo number (1-4) to save to. PLAY (none) Playback a recorded demo. Prompts for the demo number to play (1-4). (none or \FUN Freezes the game? You can still hear the unknown) music, though. Press ESC to return. *** THE NEW CODES IN VERSION 1.1: *** MAESTRO \LEE Juke Box mode. Shows the name of each music selection and allows you to play it. There are quite a few even for shareware. CARTIER \MAP Reveals the entire map of the whole level on your automap (press TAB to bring up the map). (none or \EKG EKG Mode!! Yes!!! This has got to be the unknown) best code! Whenever you shoot someone with a missile weapon, RIDICULOUS amounts of gibs go flying all over the place! Blood rains down out of the sky a full five seconds later!! Check this out!!! *** THE NEW CODES THAT SEEM TO HAVE NO FUNCTION: *** HAVE \YOU ??? LIFE \NO ??? Y'know, now that I'm reading these four codewords all together, they sure look like a practical joke, don't they? (HAVE YOU NO LIFE) =============================================================================== Well, that's it. There will probably be a few more in the registered version (like a code for Dog Mode), but for now, have fun! (Try turning EKG mode on and LEAVING it on whenever you play. Major fun.) -= B.J.
