Dominoes For Windows Version 2.0 1) Introduction 2) Installation 3) File Descriptions 4) Comments 5) Disclaimer 1) Introduction Dominoes For Windows is fun and challenging. The actual name of the game is called Sniff. Even if you've never heard of Sniff you probably know how to play the game. Sniff is the most popular Domino game of them all. Dominoes is shareware. That is to say, it's not free. Shareware is a means of marketing software for those of us who don't have a crack marketing department with a huge budget. The basic premise is that you get to try out the software before you buy it. Once you've tried the product, and decided it is worth the cost, you send in your registration fee and will receive the latest, greatest version of the software. This process is known as Shareware Registration. In this case the latest and greatest version has some of the annoying aspects of the shareware version taken out. Such as, the logo screen does not appear in-between ever game you play, the game loads **much** faster than the shareware version, and you get a free game when you register. The registration price is $14.50. You can either send a check or money order through the mail or use CompuServe's Software Registration forum (GO SWREG) and use SWREG ID# 9766. For complete details on registering your copy of Dominoes read the Q & A section in the help file. 2) Installation Aside from the ZIP file DOMINO.ZIP you will need one other file to successfully install and run Dominoes. You will need: VBRUN300.DLL VBRUN300.DLL is the run-time module needed to run all programs written in the language Visual Basic. VBRUN300.DLL can be found on all on-line services, or you can get it off my homepage on the World Wide Web. It is usually stored as VBRUN3.ZIP. Once you have VBRUN300.DLL uncompress it nad put this file in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. Installation couldn't be easier. Simply create a new directory and put all the files from DOMINO.ZIP into the directory. If you want to add a Program Group and Icons (Windows 3.1) or add a Program Folder (Windows 95) you can run SETUP.EXE. If you chose not to run the setup program you can start the game by double clicking on the file DOMINOES.EXE. 3) File Descriptions You should find the following files in DOMINO.ZIP DOMINOES.EXE - The executable Spades card game DOMINOES.HLP - Spades Help file SETUP.EXE - Create Group, Icons, or Folder FILE_ID.DIZ - File identification file README.TXT - This readme file BIRD.WAV - WAV file used in game CLAP.WAV - WAV file used in game DROP.WAV - WAV file used in game OHDEAR.WAV - WAV file used in game OOOOO.WAV - WAV file used in game RIMSHOT.WAV - WAV file used in game SONIC.WAV - WAV file used in game 4) Comments Any comments, suggestions, or critiques can be sent to me at one of the following addresses: CompuServe - 71042,36 World Wide Web - http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/gregdebacker InterNet - 71042.36@compuserve.com U.S. Mail - Greg DeBacker 638 San Juan Av.
