Installation Notes ===================== 3.1 The setup program --------------------- The setup program installs and maintains your installation of Nations Fighter Command. In addition to the initial installation of Nations, the Setup program can be used to change installation level (add/remove components), and to completely remove the product when no longer required. 3.2 Setup and maintanence ------------------------ The first time the Setup program is run you will be given the option of choosing a destination directory and installation level. If the setup program is run subsequently you will be allowed to change the installation level to free up more disc space. If you believe that your installation has been corrupted in someway, you can choose ReInstall to ensure that all components are correctly installed. When you wish to remove (uninstall) Nations run Setup and choose the 'Remove All' option. 4. Supported Hardware ===================== 4.1 3D Card support ------------------- Nations requires a Direct 3D compatible 3D accelerator card. Nations will also support and similar technology which provides input compatible with Direct Input. See configuring the section on configuring URGear for more information. 5. Keyboard reference ===================== 5.1 Quick Reference ------------------- 6. Configuration ================ 6.1 Joystick setup ------------------ 6.2 URGear setup ---------------- 6.3 Controls.ini ---------------- 7. Multiplayer ============== 7.1 Supported Protocols ----------------------- IPX (Network) TCP/IP (Network) TCP/IP (Internet) Serial Connection -For optimal performance we recommend you use the baud rate set to 115200 7.2 Guide --------- When starting a muliplayer session, the server must first select the map, set the number of players and kills etc. and then unlock the session for other players to be able to see it. When the session is started, the server will display a green loading bar - gather players function - all clients will display an empty loading bar until this gather players bar is filled on the server. This requires all clients to notify the server that they are on the loading screen, as such network lag and high pings can cause this bar to take a long time to load. We recommend that a high specification of PC is used as a server for any large multiplayer game. When playing with just a few players, some of the maps will require a lot of flying before combat begins - to limit this try to keep the players near the in game powerups if available. 8. Miscelaneous =============== 8.1 Windows 2000 ---------------- 9. FAQ / Troubleshooting ======================== The in game speech appears to be in a language other than what I choose! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ All the in game speech is in the language appropriate to the context it is used. I.e. if your playing as a german pilot you will hear german radio chatter. I'm trying to play a network game but I can't see the game to join ------------------------------------------------------------------ Make sure that the host has 'unlocked the game'. If using IPX you must all be using the same 'frametype' setting. (Under Windows you can change this from Control Panel, Network Settings, IPX, Advanced, FrameType) I would like to use my joystick but don't want to use its throttle/rudder ------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would prefer to use keys for rudder/throttle control whilst using joystick for aileron/elevator controls you need to go to the controls configuration screen, double click the analogue rudder/throttle and then press delete to unbind it. 10.
