SENTENCED. Robert Tappan Morris, 25, notorious hacker whose "virus" stalled thousands of computers nationwide in 1988; to three years' probation, 400 hours of community service and a $10,000 fine. Morris, who did not draw a jail term in the closely watched case, was the first person tried under a federal law designed to protect computer security.
