On a brisk autumn day last week, Jacqueline Onassis, 60, walked along a sunlit street on Manhattan's Upper East Side with three close family members. The outing was a somber occasion: they were coming from a memorial service that marked the anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination 26 years ago. Joining her were Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, who was only five years old when her father was killed, and son-in-law Edwin Schlossberg. And bundled up against the pre-Thanksgiving chill was Jackie's grandchild Rose, 1 1/2.
