The object of Cross Numbers is to place a number into the empty squares so that each row, each column and each square of 9 contain the digits 1 through 9 once and only once.
To play a game, first load in a puzzle to play by selecting Load Puzzle from the File Menu. The grid will then partially fill with hints. The number of hints shown is determined by the difficulty level.
To move around the grid, simply tap on a square. To enter a number in the highlighted square, tap on the numbers at the bottom of the screen. To erase a number, tap the Space square and to receive a hint, tap the Hint square.
Using logic, continue entering numbers until the grid is filled. You might want to load in a puzzle and select Solve from the Game Menu to see an example of a completed puzzle. Also please note, that depending on the random placement of the hints, there might be more than one solution for a puzzle.
You may check your answers at any time by selecting Check Square or Check All from the Game Menu. Incorrect answers will be shown in red. Or you may receive a hint for the selected square by selecting Hint from the Game Menu or tapping the Hint square on the screen. If you wish to see the solution, select Solve from the Game Menu.
There are two options for clearing and restarting the puzzle. If you select Clear from the Game Menu, the grid will be cleared of any answers you may have entered and the original hints will remain. If you select Restart from the Game Menu, the entire grid will be cleared and a new set of hints will be generated for the puzzle.
From the Options Menu, you may change the background of the playing screen and select the difficulty of the puzzles. The Novice level will give you 45 hints, the Easy level 36, the Medium 27 and the Hard 18.
