About the default working folder

The first time you open the Open dialog box and the New File task pane (available from the F ile menu) in Microsoft Access, the My Documents folder is the default working (or active) folder. If you install the Office Shortcut Bar, the My Documents folder is also the default folder that opens from the Open Office Document button on the Office Shortcut Bar, from the N ew Office Document, and the Open Office Document command on the Windows Start menu . If you select a different folder or create a database in a different folder, this new folder becomes the default working folder and will be displayed in the Open dialog box and the New File task pane. For more information about the Office Shortcut Bar, look in Office Help.

In versions of Microsoft Windows earlier than Windows 2000, the My Documents folder is located at the root folder. In Windows 2000, My Documents is a desktop folder and is represented by an icon of a folder with a sheet of paper in it. To change the location of your My Documents folder, look in Windows 2000 Help for additional information.
