Turn off automatic completion of file names and URLs

If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, you can turn off the feature that automatically suggests a match for file names and URLs as you type them in the Insert Hyperlink dialog boxes in Microsoft Office programs, and in the Address box in Internet Explorer.

1. Start or switch to Internet Explorer.
2. Do one of the following:

   • If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0, click Internet Options on the View menu, and on the Advanced tab, clear the Use AutoComplete check box.

   • If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later versions, click Internet Options on the Tools menu, and on the Advanced tab, clear the Use inline AutoComplete check box.
