About the Message field
With the Message field, you can:
- Insert file attachments or shortcuts. For example, for a Copier Request
form, the Message field enables the user to attach files for copying. If the files are too large to send through the Microsoft Exchange system, the user can insert shortcuts to the attached files. In addition, the designer can insert files or shortcuts at design time. For example, you may want to insert attachments to Readme files that explain how to use the form or application.
- Insert item attachments or shortcuts. By doing so, you can insert messages from other users in the Message field.
- Insert a shortcut to a World Wide Web page. Recipients must have an Internet browser installed on their computers to insert shortcuts to Web pages.
- Insert linked or embedded objects. These objects can be voice mails, Word documents, Microsoft Excel workbooks, and PowerPoint presentations.
Rules for using the Message field:
- Each form can contain one Message control per page. For example, in a form, the Compose page can contain a Message control, and the Read page can contain a Message control.
- You cannot have a Message control on the Message page and another page (for example, any of the pages with the label P.2 รป P.6) of the Compose page or Read page.
- If the form does not have the Separate Read Layout option selected for the page that contains the Message control, the form can only contain one Message control.
- The Message control is automatically bound
to the Message field.
- The Message control is the only standard control on a form in which you or the user can insert files, items, or objects.
