Set up automatic dialing

  1. Set up a modem.

    For more information, refer to the modem topics in Microsoft Windows Help.

  2. Set up your phone line for automatic phone dialing.

    How?

    1. Click Contacts .
    2. On the Actions menu, point to Call Contact, and then click New Call.
    3. Click Dialing Options, and then click Line Properties.
    4. On the General, Connection, and Options tabs, select the modem and connection options you want.

      For Help on an option, click the question mark and then click the option.

  3. Set the location to dial from.

    How?

    1. Click Contacts .
    2. On the Actions menu, point to Call Contact, and then click New Call.
    3. Click Dialing Properties.
    4. Select the options you want.

      For Help on an option, click the question mark and then click the option.

  4. Do any of the following:

    Set up speed dialing

    1. Click Contacts
    2. On the Actions menu, point to Call Contact, and then click New Call.
    3. Click Dialing Properties.
    4. In the Name box, type the name of a person or business you call frequently.

    5. In the Phone number box, type the phone number.

    6. Click Add.

    Set up a calling card

    1. If you haven't already done so, set up a modem.

      For information, refer to the modem topics in Microsoft Windows Help.

    2. Click Contacts .
    3. On the Actions menu, point to Call Contact, and then click New Call.
    4. Click Dialing Properties, click the location you want, click Edit, and then click the Calling Card tab.

      In Windows 98, click Dialing Properties, click Edit, and then click the Calling Card tab.

    5. Do one of the following:

      Configure a calling card that is in the list

      1. In the Card Types list, click the card.
      2. In the Account number box, type the account number provided by the calling card company for the calling card. For some calling cards this is the home or business phone number associated with the account.
      3. In the Personal Identification Number (PIN) box, type your personal number required to secure your account against unauthorized use. Some calling cards do not use a PIN.
      4. To designate access numbers and calling card dialing steps for long distance, international, and local calls, click the corresponding tabs.

        On each tab, in the Access number box, type the phone number required to access the corresponding service. On the Local Calls tab, leave this box blank to dial local numbers without using the calling card.

      For Help on an option, click the question mark and then click the option.

      Note   If you add Access Number, PIN, or Account Number to the Calling card dialing steps list and the corresponding field is blank, you will be prompted to enter the missing value when you click OK or Apply.

      Configure a calling card that is not in the list

      1. Click New.

      2. In the Calling card name box, type the name used to identify the card.

      3. In the Account number box, enter the account number provided by the calling card company for the calling card. For some calling cards this is the home or business phone number associated with the account.
      4. In the Personal Identification Number (PIN) box, type your personal number required to secure your account against unauthorized use. Some calling cards do not use a PIN.
      5. To designate access numbers and calling card dialing steps for long distance, international, and local calls, click the corresponding tabs.

        On each tab, in the Access number box, type the phone number required to access the corresponding service. On the Local Calls tab, leave the box blank to dial local numbers without using the calling card.

      For Help on an option, click the question mark and then click the option.
