Microsoft Word offers basic bilingual dictionary and translation capability, as well as access to translation services on the World Wide Web.

Translating text in Word

You can:

• Look up words or phrases in the dictionary of a different language, provided that the language dictionary is installed on your computer.
• Insert the translated text into your document directly from the Translate task pane (on the Tools menu, point to Language, and then click Translate).

Translating text on the Web

If you need quick translation of longer sections of text, you can connect to translation services on the World Wide Web directly from the Translate task pane.

These services typically use computers to translate your document automatically. You can often use these translations to quickly determine the main ideas in a document. For important or sensitive documents, you may want to have a person do the translation, since computer translation may not preserve the text's full meaning, detail, or tone.
