Change the default working folder
Do one of the following:
Change the default working folder for
Microsoft Word only
- On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the File Locations tab.
- In the File types list, click Documents.
- Click Modify.
- To select an existing folder to display as the default working folder, locate and click the folder you want in the folder list.
To create a new folder to display as the default working folder, click Create New Folder
, and then type a name for the new folder in the Name box.
Rename or move the default working folder for
Microsoft Office
- Save and close all Microsoft Office files, and then close all Office programs.
- In Microsoft Windows Explorer or My Computer, move or copy any files you want to find quickly to the My Documents folder.
If you use Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0, you can organize documents in the Personal folder.
- To rename the My Documents folder, right-click the My Documents folder in
Windows Explorer or My Computer, and then click Rename on the shortcut menu. Type the new name for the folder, and then press ENTER.
- To move the My Documents folder, drag the My Documents folder to a new location.
Note If you already changed the default working folder
for Microsoft Word, that setting is not affected.
