To exchange information between Lotus Notes and Microsoft Word, you can insert a Word document as an embedded object in a Lotus Notes document or form. You cannot insert fields in a Notes document; the fields can be inserted only in a Notes form.
Lotus Notes document
If you want to insert the embedded object in a single Notes document or if you want to insert different embedded objects in several Notes documents, you can insert a Word document as an embedded object in an editable rich text field in a Lotus Notes document. If you want to use Notes/FX field exchange in the Notes document, the document must already contain the Notes/FX field exchange fields you want to use to exchange information.
The form must include an editable rich text field.
To insert an existing document as an embedded object, click Create an object from a file, and then type the name of the document in the File box, or click Browse to select from a list.
Lotus Notes form
You can also insert a Word document as an embedded object when you design a Notes form. For example, if you want to create multiple Notes documents that contain the same embedded Word document, insert the embedded object when you design the Notes form. In this way, the embedded object will already exist within each new Lotus Notes document or form you create from the existing form. When you add Notes/FX fields to the form with the embedded object, each new Notes document or form you create from that form is ready for Notes/FX field exchange.
To modify an existing form, click the database that contains the form. On the View menu, click Design. Under Design in the navigation pane, click Forms. Double-click the form.
