Installing a media player

Microsoft Media Player is required for importing or inserting sound or video files (except animated .gifs). DirectShow or Active Movie add support for additional types, but if you only have DirectShow or Active Movie you can only play media files, not insert or import them. Select the correct media player for your browser.

If you are using Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher

  1. Click the Windows Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Add/Remove Programs, select the Install/Uninstall tab, select Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then click Add/Remove.
  3. Select Add a component to Internet Explorer.
  4. Add DirectShow.

If you are using Internet Explorer 3.0
