Running
the Calendar Templates in
PhotoDeluxe 2.0 (PCW July 99)
There is a problem
with running the Calendar templates from the July issue of Personal Computer
World. The supplied zip file and following instructions will allow you
to use these templates as intended.
• Unzip the supplied
file CALENDAR.ZIP to your hard disk. It is recommended that you unzip
the contents to a folder called CALENDAR on the root of the drive (i.e.
C:\CALENDAR)
TO DOWNLOAD THE ZIP FILE (1.3Mb)
>>> CLICK HERE
To create a calendar,
you will need to carry out the following steps. Please note that these
instructions describe a particular selected layout and style and you will
have to adapt them according to your own requirements:
Important: Ensure
that the July PCW disc is NOT present in the drive
• Run
PhotoDeluxe 2.0
• Click on CARDS AND MORE from the menu
• Click on the CARDS AND CALENDAR tab
• Click the CALENDARS button
• Click the green CALENDAR tab
• Select either YEAR or MONTH depending on which type of calendar
you wish to create (for this example, use YEAR).
• Next click the green YEAR tab
• Select the year you wish to the calendar to display (for this example,
use 1999)
• Next click the green LAYOUT tab
• This will display the TEMPLATES menu - double click on the layout
you prefer (for this example, use TALL/ABOVE)
A prompt will ask
you to load the CD or to FIND FILE.
Do NOT insert the CD.
• Click
the FIND FILE button and from the dialogue box that opens, navigate to
the folder CALENDAR on the hard disk. (This was the folder you created
when you unzipped CALENDAR.ZIP above).
• Navigate further within this folder to CALENDAR\LANG1\LAYOUT1.
From this folder, double-click the file LAYOUT1.JPG. The file will be
loaded to create the calendar layout of your choice.
(NB. The folder LAYOUT1
contains files relevant to the layout TALL/ABOVE, as used in this example.
Other layouts require you to access a different folder i.e. the TALL/BEHIND
layout can be found in LAYOUT2 etc.)
• Next click
the green STYLE tab
• This will display the STYLE menu - double click on the style you
prefer (for this example, use STYLE1)
Again a prompt
will ask you to load the CD or to FIND FILE.
Do NOT insert the CD.
• Click
the FIND FILE button and from the dialogue box that opens, navigate again
to the folder CALENDAR on the hard disk.
• Navigate further within this folder to CALENDAR\LANG1\LAYOUT1\YEAR\STYLES\.
From this folder, double-click the file STYLE1.JPG. The style will be
applied to the layout.
(NB. Again the folder
LAYOUT1 only contains files relevant to the layout TALL/ABOVE, as used
in this example. Other folders contain different styles for different
layouts.)
Once the style has
been applied, you will want to add photos. If you wish to use the supplied
SAMPLE photos, you will need to do the following:
• Click on the
green ADD tab
• Select SAMPLE PHOTOS
• Double click on the photo you wish to use.
Again a prompt
will ask you to load the CD or to FIND FILE. This time you MUST insert
the July PCW disc and click on FIND FILE. (If the disc is present before
you select your photo you will get an error).
• Navigate to <CD drive>\:PDART\SAMPLES and use the preview
box to find your selected image. (It is recommended that you select an
obvious image that is easy to find.)
You may be asked for a name for the CD, so that it can find it again in
future. Type in "Photodeluxe" (without the quotes), observing
the upper and lower case letters.
In future you will
not need to select the file via the dialogue box - just have the CD ready
in the drive when you double-click a photo.
Remember:
• DO NOT have the disc present in the drive when selecting layouts.
This will cause the program to prompt you and prevent an error when it
cannot find it on the CD.
• DO make sure the CD is present when you want to load a sample photo.
• Your own images will be stored elsewhere so you will need to use
the dialogue box to access these.
