May 22: Audiograbber 1.50 beta.
I have released a beta of Audiograbber 1.50. The most important improvments in this version is a CDDB Submit function so you can now upload your discs to Escient's database. It does also come with support for Microsoft's new MS Audio format. (Microsofts competitor to MP3). AG 1.50 can also sample analog from your CD-ROM drive, good for scratched/problematic discs or if your drive simply can't rip.
This time I released the free version as beta instead of my usual way to release a beta of the full version first. It turned out that most bugs wasn't found until the free version was released anyhow. A final relase of AG 1.50 (both full and free) is planned to next weekend. Please test this beta and report if you find any bugs to jackie@audiograbber.com-us.net. Grab the 1.50 beta from the download page.
April 11: AudioCatalyst 2.0 released!
AudioCatalyst is a special version of Audiograbber with Xing's MP3 encoder built in. Read about the differences and other facts here.
I have also made a build 3 of Audiograbber 1.41. This new build is better to handle wav files created by other programs with unusual wav headers and it lets you choose yourself if you want the tracks checked or not by default.
March 24: Hot file of the day and Editors choice!
Audiograbber has today become Hot file of the day at Zif Davis and Editors Choice at C|Net. Wow, two good awards at the same day, Audiograbber 1.41 rocks! Click on the images to go to the respective pages.
Other awards.
March 17: The free Version 1.41 is now also available.
The free version of Audiograbber 1.41 has now been uploaded to all servers.
March 17: Version 1.41 available.
The full version of Audiograbber 1.41 is now available for registered users. This is a minor upgrade where the following in worth mentioning: Direct rip and encode options which means that it is now possible to rip directly to mp3 without first creating a wav file. Integration with MP3 players, Audiograbber can now launch your favorite MP3 Player when the tracks have been ripped. An option to auto-query CDDB if a disc is not recognized which has been the most requested function and speed selection for Plextor drives are also new. There are some other changes and fixes too but they are not worth mentioning at this time.
The free version will be released in a few days. Some registered users has checked to be notified about new releases (which they did when they registered), I have not yet setup any notification system so please don't complain that you have not got an update e-mail, I have not sent any.
![What is Audiograbber?](/file/23377/Chip_1999-07_cd.bin/internet/mp3/whatis.gif)
Audiograbber is a beautiful piece of software
that grabs digital audio from cd's. It copies the audio digitally- not through the
soundcard- which enables you to make perfect copies of the originals. It can even perform a
test to see that the copies really are perfect. Audiograbber can also automatically
normalize the music, delete silence from the start and/or end of tracks, and send them to Fraunhofers acm codec or
L3enc for automatic creation of MP3's. There are a lot more functions in Audiograbber, but
to put it simply: Audiograbber has the most features one can wish from such a program!
Audiograbber is a "real" Windows 95/98/NT application and not just
another front-end to some old dos CD ripper. Now it finally works with both Windows 95/98 and Windows NT.
It works with CD-ROMs connected to both IDE and SCSI (not all SCSI drives are supported yet though. It has been tested and confirmed to work with
HP, Nakamichi, NEC, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer, Plextor, Ricoh, Sony, TEAC, Toshiba and Yamaha. It may work with some other brands too).
Another great thing with this software is that it does not put a single
file in your windows directories! No DLL's, OCX's, device drivers, or whatever else that
messes up the computer. Not a single entry in the registry or win.ini. If you delete the
Audiograbber directory it's all gone, that's it!
There are two differrent versions of Audiograbber: The free version
is available to you at no cost and can be used for an unlimited time period. The full
version costs $25 and differs from the free version in only one way. Where the
free version can copy half of the tracks the full version can copy them all.
